I got a rescue dog that was very sick. One of his many problems was with his skin. All he did was scratch. It was awful. I tried everything the vet gave me. Nothing worked. Then I tried this on him and within two weeks he stopped scratching. His skin stopped flaking. He has never been bothered by it again. I also have an older rescue dog. When I gave it to him he had more vitality and his coat shines like you would not believe. This stuff is THE BEST for your dog.

Our very large German Shepherd recently had surgery on both knees. The surgeon suggested we try Welactin 3 because it may help joints and has other benefits. He has been taking it for several months and seems to have a lot less pain. We have been able to cut back drastically on pain meds. He has more energy and his coat has improved. We plan to continue giving it to him.

My 9 year old basset hound, Archie, has responded very well with the Dasuquin chews after about 6 months, twice a day. Whereas other glucosamine supplements have upset his digestion in the past, this has not. I also add 1000mg of a daily fish oil supplement and he's playing like a pup again!

This is a great product. Our Beagle mix tore both ACL's last year and had to have surgery twice! Our vet suggested we put her on this to help her after surgery. She has made a complete recovery and is back to chasing squirrels

Help for sensitive tummies November 19, 2010

My latest stray has the most sensitive stomach I've ever seen. In fact, I'm sure she would have starved to death had she been on the streets much longer. She will sometimes go days without eating a full meal, just picking at her food and I've learned what that means-vomiting and diarrhea can't be far behind.My vet says she has "garbage gut" caused by her living off of garbage while she was on the streets. She's been treated with prescription probiotics and antibiotics which helped but as soon as she went off of the drugs the problem can back. Rather than keep her on antibiotics long term, I decided to try Proviable DC (actually my vet recommended it to me).At first I didn't see any difference so I tried increasing the dose from once a day to twice a day. This seemed to do the trick and the vomiting has stopped completely while the diarrhea has significantly improved.Bottom line, I would get my pet checked out by a vet first because there could be something seriously wrong. But if your vet recommends probiotics or just gives you a diagnosis of sensitive stomach, then definately give this product a try.

My poor dog has had issues with food since the day I got him. He has protein allergies (no chicken, beef, lamb or pork) so I'm very limited in what I can feed him but he also seemed to be very finicky. There were times when he would go 3 to 4 days without eating. I thought it was because he was bored with his diet and wanted something different. Then my vet suggested probiotics might help so I did a little research and found Proviable DC was one of the very few that actually had active organisms and passed all lab testing. I've been adding it to his food for a week now and I can see a marked difference. He no longer turns up his nose to his food if I feed him the same thing more than 3 times in a row. I truly believe this is making a huge difference for him and will continue to give this to him for the rest of his life.

Great Product. It Really Works June 24, 2005

I started my 14 year old cat on this when she started having problems with her joints. It has made a huge difference in her quality of life. She jumps and runs around like she is 10 years younger. I wholeheartedly recommend it for the older cat with joint problems. It's easy to give her as it's in a capsule form and I easily open the capsule and sprinkle the powder on her wet food, then mix it in and she eats it up and doesn't know anything is different in her food. As I said a great product.

I love Cosequin! August 13, 2007

I have a 4 1/2 year old cat who's suffered from sterile cystitis since she was a young kitten. This is rare in cats so young so it took a long time and many tests to figure out what was wrong with her. Finally our vet mentioned that there was a possibility she had sterile cystitis and that we should try Cosequin and see if it worked. Our first night trying it this skittish kitten who hated pills licked up half of the powder before I could even mix it in with the food! She loved it! Within about a week her symptoms were dissipating and we stopped noticing as much blood in her urine. A few weeks later she was just fine, obviously not in pain anymore. She's been on these pills about 3 years now, taking one nearly every night in a small amount of babyfood, and we've only seen a couple small, short outbreaks of her sterile cystitis, and only during periods of very high stress (such as when we moved).While it doesn't break the bank at the vet, it's MUCH cheaper on here, more than half off the price I've noticed. Also we've never had a problem with it showing up late or damaged. Since our cat could very well be on this for the rest of her life I'm so glad we have a place to buy it from that saves us so much money!

My elderly kitty had orthopedic surgery on his right knee in Feb '07 and a month later he was still in pain and walking very gingerly. Our local vet suggested Nutramax Cosequin for Cats and within four days there was an absolutely dramatic change for the better. Moses stopped growling, crying, and biting his tail. He began walking around the bedroom in which he was confined (for safety). His appetite improved and he enjoyed grooming once again. He has continued his progress and his walk is sure-footed and appears painless. He sleeps well, is as active as his surgeon allows, and we are very thankful to have found this product. My fiancee believes that Glucosamine and Chondroitin enabled him to postpone his knee surgery for nearly ten years so he was not as surprised as I about our kitty's improvement.Pain and arthritis control is so difficult in cats. Please speak to your Vet and consider trying this product. Open the capsules and sprinkle into about a tablespoonful of food and mix it in. Our little Mr. Fussy-eater likes it just fine! Then offer any other food your cat might like. Cosequin certainly reduced, and has nearly ended, any visible suffering for our precious little guy. Thanks, Nutramax. RB

Godsend for arthritic kitties.

I was on vacation and took my dog to a vet in another state. After three years, my local vet couldn't solve the problem of my dog's ears constantly getting infections. This vacation vet said the ear condition was probably related to a skin alergy. We talked about treatments and he recommended this product. He said this would help the skin alergy and thus help make make the ear less hospitable for infections. I was skeptical, but I tried it. A month later, my dog has NO skin alergy symptoms and his ears have completely healed! (I continue the normal ear cleaning procedures including weekly flushes). Side effect: his coat is very soft ; silky!

My lab is going to turn 14 the beginning of May. He has been on this product for a couple of years. I started using it because it was labeled for "old" dogs, but I also use it for one of my dogs who has a tendency to get skin allergies when she gets sneaked a food she is allergic to (she is allergic to beef, summertime cookouts can be a disaster...)
So now I have ALL my dogs on it. The omega three fatty acids help reduce inflammation, and it really improves the taste of their dog food. Obviously, because if I don't put it on they look at me like "are you forgetting something?"
I'd highly recommend this product for old and young dogs.

My Veterinarian prescribed this medication for my 8 yr. old Shetland Sheepdog, once he found arthritis developing in one of his knees. He prescribed a dose and a half for the first 6 weeks or so, and then he would take the prescribed amount that is given on the label thereafter. I can noticably see a difference in my dog now, and he's been on it for about 3 months. He is not as lame after running around a full day, and enjoys catching the frisbee more now, because he can last longer. I'm very happy with Dasuquin.

Purchased this dosage of Dasuquin with MSM in error and reordered for the larger dog. Use of the correct dosage for a month brought noticable relief to our 100 pound, 2 1/2 year old, female bull mastif. We believe she injured herself in play and the condition got progressively worse, walking with a limp, difficulty getting up, and standing on 3 legs. She saw the vet several times and was prescribed other medications, which had no effect. We believe the Dasuquin has brought her relief and keep her on a maintenance dose, now.

My rescued greyhound equally detests the taste of these pills as the ones the vet sold me originally, but at least I was able to buy them at a much cheaper price on-line. They're supposed to be chewable, which makes them conveniently crushable and easily hidden in tuna or hot dogs or what have you. Besides being more affordable via Amazon, the pills have also eased our 11-year-old dog's hip joint paint. She's again sprinting around the house just shy of her race speed when we first adopted her.

My recent adoptee (his previous owner had to give him up as the owner was at death's door) who is a fatty won't even eat these (he'll eat about anything else). I have to crush them up and mix them with some yogurt and fish oil that I then mix in with his food. With this product he went from being lame (he'd limp with his back right leg) and possibly needing hip surgery and knee surgery, to only needing the knee surgery (apparently his knee caps "pop" out and if this isn't fixed he'll develop problems later). Anyways sucks, that he still needs some surgery, but he went from needing one that would require a whole month of rehabilitation to one where he'll be back home the next day (the rescue agency is paying all of his costs).
My older dog (an akita) went from being in so much pain that it was hard to get her to eat (she was losing weight) to her old self. Both her and the new guy are constantly wrestling around the house and chasing each other around the yard.
I also have my dogs on Phycox JS, so I don't know if the effects I've noticed are solely due to the Dasoquin or not.

My dog started limping and I took him to the vet. Vet did xrays and whole 9 yards and basically said give the dog supplements and get him more exercise. I refused to use Dasuquin because of the price and opted for the cheapest thing I found at the pet store. My vet visits with xrays etc.. were really expensive and I thought, supplements are supplements. Two months later the dog limping got worst. I went back to the vet and bought these, replacing the old supplements and what do you know- two weeks later, the dog stopped limping and has been fine since. The price is outrageous, but the dogs (started giving them to the old dog now) seem to like them without the need of masking them in food and they seem to work great. I just wish I had opted for these the first time around- and I wish they were more affordable.

I have a 14 yr old Yellow Lab named Dexter who is still walking on his own because of this product. Three monhts ago a thoughtful friend shared a partially used bottle with me because her dog passed away. Dexter's hips were not working well for him at all. He was slipping when he got up and walking with a lot of difficulty. Now a full bottle into this product and I can see a big improvement in his mobility. I don't expect it to cure his old age but it sure is helping him to deal with it. I'm impressed with the product's results.
