My 6-year-old Sheltie started developing arthritis in her hind leg, due to degeneration from a severe sprain when she was a puppy. Her leg stiffened when she laid down for any length of time, she walked with a pronounced limp and occasionally even held the leg off the ground when standing. She was obviously in pain, and would decline to come investigate when the other dogs barked at something or started to play; she would just stay lying down and looking sad. :(Rymadil didn't really help, and because of the severe potential side-effects, I was uncomfortable keeping her on it for minimal improvement. My vet recommended a glucosamine supplement, and after reading reviews on multiple sites and comparing ingredient lists, I decided on Cosequin Soft Chews Plus--and I am SO glad I did! She LOVES the taste--scarfs the "treat" down, and reminds me (by jumping up and down next to the cookie jar!) if she thinks I have forgotten to give it to her after breakfast.After about two weeks on the starting dose (2 treats per day instead of the maintenance dose of 1), we started to see a noticeable improvement. Now, a little over a month after starting treatment, her limp is almost gone, and she is visibly happier and more involved around the house, running and playing like she used to. Who would have thought a simple (if a bit stinky!) treat could have made such a differenceThey're a bit expensive, but it's totally worth it--it can't hurt to try, so I would definitely recommend you buy a bag of 60 and try 2 a day for a month...hopefully your pup will improve as drastically as mine did, and you'll become a dedicated customer like I amUPDATE:I ran out of these for about ten days or so. During that time, Piper's limp returned; she stopped showing interest in games, and yelped a couple times when standing up after a long nap. She obviously knew what was up, as she kept wandering mournfully over to the empty jar looking for her magic treats. My reorder finally arrived (that's what I get for not ordering through Amazon)--we've been giving her the starting dose (2 treats) again for just TWO DAYS, and she is already visibly less stiff, and running, jumping, and playing again. I have learned my lesson for sure, and will never be without these again!

I truly believe in this product for my mature dog, he's been taking them now for over 5 months and his arthritis has been somewhat improved and he's able to ambulate much easier, though the cold/damp weather does hinder him. I would recommend this product to any and all dogs suffering from arthritis. My vet even approved it!

My chihuahua pomeranian mix has luxating patellas (sliding kneecaps), which were causing his back legs to be very stiff and painful. He stopped being active and wouldn't climb stairs. I started the chews as instructed, and within two weeks I noticed a difference. My dog is moving much more quickly now, and he seems to have more energy. He also just seems to be happier, which makes me think the chews have really helped with his arthritic pain. His legs are definitely not as stiff anymore either. I am really happy with this product.

      Helps my German Shepherd February 28, 2008

      I have been using Cosequin DS for my 8 yr old German Shepherd for 5 months. We live in Michigan where winter temps are very cold, and she has a much easier time getting around since I have been giving her this supplement. Her hip pain and stiffness are almost gone. I also have been giving my 9 yr old cat Cosequin for Cats for over a year, and his arthritis pain is completely gone!

      I have a 8 year old Lab that has arthritis. This product helped herto walk and play. She was down for about 2 weeks and then I startedthe Cosequin DS. It took about week before she started getting up and around. This product worked so well on my dog that highlyrecommend it.

      I'd say our dog acts 10 years younger, but she's only 9 November 16, 2008

      This really worked. We tried the brands available in supermarkets and pet stores, but they had little or no effect. Our vet told us that those dosages are too low. She also said that we could purchase the product cheaper online than through her. After taking the higher dose for the recommended time, our nine-year-old Australian Cattle Dog, who couldn't make it up the stairs at night, was back chasing birds and squirrels, and jumping up trying to "kiss" visitors (have to take the good with the bad). We lowered her to the maintenance dose, and most of the time she does fine. However, after her neighborhood friend comes around, with whom she could literally play on and off all day, she still gets stiff by the evening and we have to up the dose for a couple of days.I highly recommend this product.

          It is important to note that there are 30 pills in the container, but depending on your dogs size, much less doses. It only lasted 2 weeks for my medium sized dog. Because of this, I switched to the regular pills since they are smaller and more easily hidden.

              Corky has been using this product for several years upon the recommendation of an orthopedic vetrinarian. It agrees with her digestion. She only weighs four pounds so she get 1/2 capusule per day sprinkled on her evening meal. She is a Yorkie with bad knees (common in the breed) and at [...] she is still active and playful and it seems to prevent severe pain in her little body. This is an observation as Corky communicates well, but alas, doesn't talk.

              My vet recommended this for my 11-year-old loveable mutt. Prior to use, the dog was tripping going up stairs, walking slowly during our outings, and having to be set up on her favorite perches indoors. Now, the tripping and stumbling incidents have decreased significantly, she runs to the full extent of her leash and tugs to go faster when we are out, and she hops up in "her" chair with no assistance. She is a small dog (23 pounds). Nothing else has changed in her diet or her daily regimen. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

              Cosequin is widely recommended by veternarians and it works great. Please be advised though that prices are variable by distributor. And the most expensive distributors are the VETS themselves. You can do comparison shopping over the internet and save more than 1/2 of the price of same product from your local vet. Just be sure to shop early so you don't completely diminish your supply, especially in hurricane season.If you love your pet, you will want to keep them from hip and joint pain and not think twice about spending the money on this product.

                      The product definately works. It helped my dog tremendously. Would recommend this to everyone.BUT I don't why they do this. The 250 count is CHEAPER per tablet than the 650 count Go figure Doesn't make any sense!

                      Cosequin to maintain a dog's health.
                      As a dog rescue we prefer to use cosequin to the other available products. Cosequin helps maintain and rebuild a dog's joints and does not destroy organs while doing so.

                          Denamarin contains SAMe which markedly increases liver glutathione levels, a potent antioxidant. SAMe also helps protect liver cells from cell death and may help cell repair and regeneration. Denamarin also has Silybin, the most active part of an extract from milk thistle. Silybin acts as an antioxidant and stimulates the flow of bile through the liver to aid in the digestion and absorption of nutrients from your pet's diet. Silybin also helps with liver cell regeneration and may enhance levels of glutathione, the liver's major "detoxifying" agent.

                          Amazing medicine for our cat's liver health! May 4, 2011

                          Our cat was near death from liver failure (due to an itchy ear medicine she had been given) and after having an ultrasound that showed no organ damage the vet wanted to take a biopsy of her liver to see if she had liver cancer from the medicine and we said no that would be too painful but we said what would you treat her with if she did have cancer the vet said chemotherapy or Denamarin, probably Denamarin first to see if her function came back. So we said to skip the biopsy and just give her the medicine, which they did. Well long story short she started eating again (bit by bit) and being able to move herself around and her liver values dropped dramatically and at her last blood test her liver values were better then they had been when she was young. So I think this medicine was literally a life saver for our cat :) And she is back to her old grumpy self :)

                          Our Chihuahua puppy was born with micro liver dysplasia. Her liver was not functioning at all and she would have severe seizures.                               I have nothing bad to say about the product, it works great for my 13 year old Labrador who has liver problems. But I'm very disappointed by the product description for the chewables. My chocolate lab weighs 75lbs, when I ordered these I was under the impression I'd have enough to last me 30 days, as on the box it says for all dog sizes, but when I got these in the mail, there is a chart on the side that gives the dosage recommendation per day. For a dog weighing 75lbs you have to give them 2 1/2 per day, which I have no problem doing, but will cost more money than the regular pills per month. I just thought the product description was very misleading.To help you out I'll give the chart recommendations per day:Up to 6lbs - 1/47-15lbs - 1/216-30lbs - 131-45lbs - 1.546-60lbs - 261-75lbs - 2.576-90lbs - 391-105lbs - 3.5over 105 - 4Hope this helps out new buyers of this great product.

                              My dog was diagnosed with liver problems and the vet here basically said all we can do is support her and keep her comfortable, dealing with any symptoms as they appear. I decided to try Denosyl since I basically had nothing to lose, this stuff has done wonders for my dog, her blood numbers have improved, she has regained her appetite and energy. I give her these and Ultrathistle. The chewables have made both our lives much easier. Medi-vet sent them super fast! I'm extremely pleased with both the product and the service.

                              Yoda is my 11 year old Schipperke dog at one year of age he started to have seizures and was started on phenabarb which after 4 years put him in liver failure. I started him on this product and milk thistle(Marin) took him off the phenabarb and also started him on Wellness white fish and sweet potato food only. In 1 year his liver function studies were normal AND NO seizures. After 2 years on this and the Marin I took him off of them, he started to have seizures again after 5 months and his liver functions started to change again. ( he has blood work every 6 months)I am using this product again in the form called Denamarin chewable (it has the Denosyl, SAM-E for dogs and cats and the Marin, milk thistle, combined in 1 tablet)Blood work again normal AND seizure free. He remains energtic and healthy on Wellness white fish.
